Government has issued Presidential Regulation No. 36 Year 2010 about the business closed for investment and business opened for investment under certain conditions in investment (Negative Investment List/Daftar Negatif Investasi (DNI)) which changes the Presidential Regulation No. 77 Year 2007 and its amendment at the Regulation No. 111 Year 2007. The release of this current DNI is based on the idea of give simplification, certainty and the investment attraction to the investors as well as to improve the investment climate and to reach the investment target as well as to carry out the Indonesian commitment regarding Asean Economic Community.

The first German-Indonesian bilateral consultation was conducted at Hotel Borobudur in Jakarta on 17 May 2010. The Indonesian Delegation headed by Ambassador Retno L.P. Marsudi, Director General of Europe-America, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, included among others the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in Berlin, H.E Eddy Pratomo and other senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as officials from related ministries.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Federal Republic of Germany, Eddy Pratomo, expressed his deep appreciation to the German Government for its support rendered to the Government of Indonesia in its efforts to protect and preserve the tropical rain forest in Sumatra . During a follow-up meeting for the German donation of 7.5 million Euro with the representatives of the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU), the German Development Bank KfW, and the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU) on 25 March 2010 in Berlin, the Indonesian Ambassador stressed that the conservation and protection of the rain forest constitutes one of the priority agenda of the Government.

Indonesia’s religious tolerance has won praise from the US government and civil society groups despite concerns that the country may tilt toward more radical Islamic ideas, with several regions enacting sharia-based bylaws and hardliners reportedly trying to stifle pluralism.
