THE GOVERNMENT OF INDONESIA REITERATES THAT ISRAEL HALT MILITARY AGRESSION AGAINST GAZA STRIP

1. The Government of the Republic of Indonesia reiterates its appeal to Israeli authorities to immediately halt its military aggression in the Gaza Strip.

2. The Government of the Republic of Indonesia requests the Security Council of the United Nations now in session to unanimously agree on a resolution to oblige the cessation of hostilities by the two parties and to reinvigorate the ceasefire monitores by the peacekeeping team of the UN. The Government of Indonesia expresses its readiness to participate in the peacekeeping mission of the UN if such a team is created.

3. The Government of the Republic of Indonesia supports all parties to renew the process of dialogue and negotiations to achieve a comprehensive solution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

4. In view of the current tragic events in the Gaza Strip, Indonesia expresses its hope that the UN Security Council could pass a resolution to enable full access of humanitarian aids.

5. The UN Security Council should send an assessment team to the Gaza Strip with the view to witnessing and to seeing for itself the disaster now afflicting the people of Palestine and to take measures to stop this.

6. As the experiences during the Israeli military attack in mid 2006 has demonstrated, the unity of all Palestinian groups is indispensable, because the reconciliation between Hamas and Fatah is a must, for discord only advantages Israel and leads to disaster causing civilian victims, especially children and women, as currently witnessed by the world.
